In August 2023, The All Christians Together (ACT) Debt Clinic applied for £2,600 funding from The DACP.
The Jubilee project offers free fortnightly debt and welfare benefits advice to local residents at a walk-in clinic located at the Osmaston Allenton Children's Centre, Cockayne Street, Allenton, DE24 8XB alongside the weekly foodbank facilitated by ACT in partnership with The Derby Food4thought Alliance.
With a fully trained and qualified debt adviser from Derby City Mission, and other volunteer support workers from ACT, individuals and families are given debt and benefit advice, helped to regain control of their finances, and for those in serious need, are helped with food parcels and signposted to where they can find additional support should they need it. The project works individually with each client on a fortnightly basis advising them of their possible courses of action, liaising with creditors, local authority departments and the department for work and pensions on their behalf, helping them with forms and applications.
Clients are referred mainly by recommendation from former clients or through our foodbank service, also run from the centre but we also take referrals from Derby City Council departments and statutory agencies. Beneficiaries include all age groups, and the support allows individuals and families to regain control of their finances and start to rebuild their lives.
