In December 2022, the DACP teamed up with St Peters Church to help Derby Homes customers who find themselves in financial hardship to enjoy Christmas Lunch on Jesus.
With the cost-of-living crisis it's never been more important to help tenants maximise their income and make savings.
This is a collaborative project with the Derby Homes' Tenancy Sustainment Team, who referred in over 250 customers for the charitable service.
Jenny Veater (Tenancy Sustainment Manager) said: “Helping ease the financial pressure of the festive season has helped tenants to sustain their tenancies and avoid getting into debt or further debt as they have been better able to budget their expenditure and continue to pay their priority bills.
“The Aldi supermarket voucher they are awarded really helps to pay for their food and drink over the festive period when most families spend a lot more at that time of year.
“St Peters Church put in a huge amount of time and effort every December ensuring that every nomination we make is accepted and a voucher for a local supermarket is awarded. They work on trust and make a tremendous difference so many customers wellbeing and happiness at Christmas.
“I have had the pleasure of delivering my share of the vouchers and every year I am moved by how grateful our customers are. Some are in tears as they are so relieved, they can now have a decent meal on Christmas day. Others have used the voucher for little presents for their kids to open who would have gone without had it not been for the church.”
Deliveries of the Aldi vouchers were made by Derby Homes' staff over December. The DACP were honoured to contribute funding to this brilliant project for the second year running.
