In February 2023, The Derby Food 4 Thought (DT4T) Alliance applied for £2,500 funding from The DACP. Due to the unprecedented impact of the cost of living crisis, the project has seen a 40% increase in running costs that they have struggled to absorb. With donations lower due to rising costs, and demand for support growing, Derby Food 4 Thought are doing everything they can to continue serving the Derby City community. The funding received from The DACP has helped contribute to food costs, keeping the alliance well stocked for the food banks they provide to.
The Derby Food 4 Thought (DF4T) Alliance was initially created to respond to the immediate needs of people in Derby at the start of the Covid pandemic in March 2020. It has now progressed to being a longer-term solution supporting the root causes of deprivation and poverty.
The universal approach of the Alliance has been in operation since March 2020 and the roll-out of support for those most in need is growing fast. This provides scope for exciting projects that have never been delivered before in Derby. D4FT are currently in the process of establishing Community Shops within the city, which are crucial to the development of their work. These plans are currently underway and will help to support people most in need.
