Customer Voice scrutiny group members Shaz Davis and David Thomas have taken part in one of three national consultation events to help shape social housing policy.

The pair joined other tenants and leaseholders from across the Midlands to discuss proposed changes to the Decent Homes Standard and improving energy efficiency in social housing.

Policy experts from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government were on hand to discuss the proposed changes, gather feedback and answer questions at the event, which was organised by Tpas (Tenant Participation Advisory Service).

Refreshments and lunch were provided, giving Shaz and David the chance to network with other tenants and landlords.

David, who joined Customer Voice in July, said: “The event exceeded all my expectations, and served as a valuable learning experience for me.

All views will be fed back to the Government to consider before any changes are made to national policies.
