Vox Feminarum: Women's Voices, are an inclusive organisation dedicated to advancing gender equality in all aspects of society. We serve as a platform for women's voices to be heard, amplified, and celebrated. Our mission is to create a supportive community where women from diverse backgrounds can come together to share experiences, insights, and ideas that drive positive change.
Through a variety of workshops, events, advocacy and campaigning we strive to raise awareness about the challenges women face and the strides they have made. Our group fosters an environment that encourages open dialogue and the exchange of perspectives, aiming to dismantle stereotypes, challenge biases, and promote inclusivity.
Women's Voices are running the project, Trash2Treasure. Trash2Treasure is an innovative community project that taps into the creative potential of women to transform waste materials into artistic and practical treasures. This project centres on empowering women by teaching them crafting and upcycling skills, fostering environmental consciousness, and promoting sustainable waste management practices. Through a series of workshops, collaborative circles, and public exhibitions, participants will learn to repurpose waste items into valuable creations while contributing to, an improved environment in Normanton and Arboretum, city-wide waste reduction efforts. The project is underpinned by the 3 Rs of recycling , re-use, recycle and reduce and we hope it will address some of the issues around local waste management and fly tipping.
