Derby Homes has a statutory duty to identify if any of the homes we manage are experiencing serious overcrowding under the Housing Act 1985, and to ensure that living conditions are safe and healthy for our customers. Where health and safety concerns are identified, we will take action to resolve them in line with our landlord responsibilities. We also actively encourage customers who are under-occupying their homes to move to smaller properties, to make larger properties available for seriously overcrowded households.
TheOvercrowding Policy 2026-2029 explains how we will identify these households and the support available to them. We value customer feedback and would like to hear your views. Please read the policy before completing a short survey.
